Teaching

A GCPR teaching project, facilitated by Gereon Kopf and funded by the Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion from 2020-2022, hosted a series of online and in-person workshops focused on teaching courses in philosophy of religion from multiple perspectives (see our timeline). The project had two aims:

  1. To empower students to explore a diversity of positions and to encounter a variety of philosophical positions and religious truth claims on their own terms.
  2. To prepare faculty to teach courses in philosophy of religion from the perspective of multiple traditions using a variety of methods that provide a safe and brave space for our students.

Outcomes include the development of Gereon Kopf’s “multi-entry approach” pedagogy, a series of podcasts on teaching global-critical philosophy of religion, and a textbook pilot project. (Published with Bloomsbury, 2023).
